- AIDGC ANNUAL CONFERENCE - Friday 18 September 2009

- Conference theme: 'IS RISK ASSESSMENT ENOUGH?'
- Keynote speaker: Keynote speaker Peter Wilkinson, Group Manager Operational Excellence and Risk, Caltex Australia, will deliver a one hour presentation entitled 'Prevention of Major Incidents'. A major loss of containment of petrol from a petroleum terminal in Victoria in 2006 will be used as a case study to illustrate how a comprehensive preventative approach is needed to avoid major incidents.
- An honours graduate with postgraduate qualifications in health & safety and a Chartered Fellow of the Institution of Occupational Health and Safety, Peter has over 30 years experience in OH&S and risk management which includes designing and building the National Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority, (NOPSA), being advisor to State Governments on mine safety and their regulation and developing safety cases related to the Piper Alpha disaster and in the British rail industry during a decade with the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
- Speakers: Industry leaders and AIDGC Members will outline developments in DG Risk Assessment, Chemical Management, DG Regulation, Emergency Planning, Hazmat Incident Response, DG Transport and vital lessons drawn from selected case studies.
- Stands: Promotional stands at the Conference will be offered to Corporate Members first. Depending on the amount of space available, this opportunity will be available to other interested organisations.

- AIDGC Seminar on Mixed Class Dangerous Goods - October 2009
- AIDGC Member Frank Mendham from AECOM will speak at two Seminars, one each in Sydney and Brisbane, addressing opportunities and challenges that result from the application of AS/NZS3833:2007.
